Hostellerie du Vieux Cordes

We stayed here several years ago. It is a small, pet friendly hotel with a courteous helpful staff. The rooms are not fancy, but clean and nicely stocked. We ate breakfasts there every day and they were great. The wisteria in the courtyard was beautiful when we were there in the spring of 2017 (April 10 to April 13). We also had a fabulous dinner in the restaurant one night. This village is a hidden gem and needs to be seen. The views from the village into the valley below are unbelievable when there is fog. Plan on exploring on foot.

Everything about this hotel was excellent. The room was so unique and quaint with stone walls and yet elegant, the bed very comfortable and the room offered a breathtaking view from the top of this beautiful town. The meal in the dining room was delicious and when we went down for breakfast in the morning, we were greeted with teddy bears seated at each table. Such a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and made you feel “at home”. My only regret was not staying longer.

An overnight stay whilst touring this area of France. Welcoming receptionist who provided excellent details to find the free parking area in this tight mediaeval town. Whilst we drove to this car park our bags were delivered to our room. The position of the hotel could not be better. The restaurant has an inner cloister-like terrace with a canopy of wisteria which provides ample shade (it must look magnificent when in full flower). The small rear terrace adjacent to the bar has outstanding views over the valley below. If in this region again I would not hesitate to stay here but would pay more for a larger room with views over the valley rather than a small room with a view of the wall of the building opposite. I have reviewed the restaurant separately.

I married my French husband and this hotel made sure that our marriage was perfect. It was a small group of people and each was able to get their own unique room, one even had a full armor suit. I just love interior design with vintage vibes and modern touches. ||||The staff was attentive and always asking if we needed anything. ||||The dining room was reserved for us and the decorations were so romantic and intimate. (I added the pictures) ||||As an American from California, this was the most beautiful and historic place with just the right amount of antiqueness and charm, something that you can't find in the US. ||||Thank you everyone! Wished we'd spent more than one night here! Rooms were somewhat spacious for such an ancient building, and tastefully and quirkily decorated. And you can't beat the location, right in the heart of Vieux Cordes. (Though glad we were not here in tourist season.)||||Somewhat difficult to find: you have to keep driving up to the top, ignoring "no entry" signs. Stop in front of the hotel to unload luggage, and the owners will direct you to free parking.||||The elegant resstaurant is very good as well. ||||Highly recommend !!!

What a stunning place Cordes is! You feel like you're on top of the world Fantastic hostellerie with a beautiful terrace with amazing views of the countryside. Very well appointed bedroom and ensuite. Friendly helpful hosts. A very special place we would like to return to.

We have just spent a very pleasant two nights in Cordes at the Hostellerie du Vieux Cordes which is in a traditional building renovated to a high standard. Our room (no. 2) was adequately spacious and comfortable with a view over to the opposite hills. The decor and furnishings were of a high standard, The bathroom had a nice shower (no bath). There was no tea/coffee/kettle or bottled water provided in the room (except on request). The staff were very pleasant and helpful Breakfast was a little disappointing. There was cereal but no bowls, and only one croissant per person (but plenty of bread). The yoghurt and compote were too sweet for my taste and my wife would have liked strawberry jam. They were under-staffed (it was the start of the season) so there usually wasn't anyone present to ask about things without going to reception. Dinner was excellent with a limited menu (2 duck and 2 salmon dishes plus cassoulet, and a different fish when we were there). Overall a very pleasant experience and recommended.
